MISSION OF R.L. FINNEY ACADEMY
R.L. Finney Christian Academy was founded in 1978 by Dr. Richard LaFayette Finney, Sr. with the support of our parent body, Grace Congregational Church. Our mission is to teach students the 1023 fundamentals of reading, writing and mathematics, while helping them develop and grow spiritually in the principles and strength of our Lord Jesus Christ as found in the Bible.
WHY A CHRISTIAN SCHOOL?
To obey the Spiritual imperatives of Deuteronomy 6:5-7a
To train up a child in the way he should go (Proverbs 22:6)
To be an extension of the Christian home
WHO MAY APPLY?
Students in grades 2-8 may apply for enrollment. Enrollment is a privilege, not a right. Our goal is not to reform students who are unmanageable by parents, but to train youth of every ability in the highest principles of Christ, and the educational skills necessary to be productive citizens of the community.
TUITION AND FEES
A registration fee is required at enrollment; this fee covers PACE's (curriculum booklets) and some supplies.
A transportation fee for field trips is charged when applicable.
Tuition in the amount of $200 is paid monthly by parents; however, this tuition does not cover all our expenses, so gifts from donors and fundraisers help close the gap. (Parents are asked to participate in fundraisers).
The Academy uses the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) Curriculum, which meets the Texas academic skills required for all grade levels. Each student is tested upon entry; class work is prescribed based on this test results and records from previous school, if applicable.
The IOWA Standardized Test is administered at the end of each school year. Results are used to plan students' prescription for next year. Practice tests are administered periodically throughout the school year.
