SENIOR PASTOR WALTER TURNER, JR.

For 48 years Bishop Walter Turner, Jr. has devoted his life to the gospel of Jesus Christ and the ministry of Grace Congregational Church.

 

 

As a founding member of Grace Congregational Church and current Senior Pastor, Bishop Turner continues to serve faithfully in ministry. He was ordained as an Elder in 1988. Subsequently, he was appointed Assistant Pastor of Grace Congregational Church in 1994.

 

 

Bishop Walter Turner, Jr. is married to the lovely, creative, and devoted First Lady Leanda B. Turner. First Lady Turner serves alongside Bishop Turner tirelessly as the epitome of a help meet and virtuous woman. Bishop Turner is the proud father of four sons, one daughter, three grandsons and four granddaughters.

Senior Pastor of Grace Congregational Church (GCC)

 

Since 2010, Bishop Turner has provided spiritual leadership and inspiration to the members of GCC and the community.

 

Former Assistant Pastor of Grace Congregational Church

 

Bishop Turner served passionately in outreach, ministering at prisons, preaching, and teaching the Word of God by the transforming power of the Holy Spirit to incarcerated brothers. Assisted in the overall leading of the congregation in a life of service and prayer.

Former National Youth Director of the United Christian Fellowship Alliance (UCFA)

 

Responsible for building a sense of national community between the youth within several churches nationwide helping to develop them both spiritually and socially.

 

Former Youth Pastor of Grace Congregational Church

 

Bishop Turner developed and implemented a curriculum for the spiritual formation of the youth of GCC, equipping parents to lead their youth spiritually. Additionally, he executed ministry programs and events to engage the youth.

 

Hurricane Harvey Outreach

 

Implemented the distribution of clothing and food items bi-monthly for over 100 families who suffered loss as a result of the Hurricane.

 

Africa Mission Trip

 

Bishop Turner traveled to Lagos and Ibadan, Nigeria to visit the schools there. As a ministry, GCC financially supported one child in each grade level to attend for one full year with full tuition paid.

 

Israel Tour

 

Bishop Turner visited Israel to expand his knowledge, understanding of the Biblical history and experience the culture of Israel.

 

Russia Mission Trip

 

Bishop Turner accompanied several other GCC members to supply saints in Russia with trunk loads of dry goods, clothing, and other supplies.
